Summer Reading: Read, Renew, Repeat!

*Summer Reading has ended. Thank you for a wonderful summer!*

Summer Reading 2024: Read, Renew, Repeat!

Ages 3-entering 9th grade

Ends August 17

We have paired up with the BOSTON BRUINS once again to encourage reading throughout the summer!

This year children ages 3 through entering fifth grade can also earn brag tags on a necklace for reading,

and children entering 6th-9th grades will earn candy bars!

Children who register for our summer reading program will receive the following  incentives based on their age or the school year they will be entering in the fall:

  • Children ages 3-8: These children will receive a registration bag with a timed-reading log and Bruins materials. The child should fill in a circle for every 15 minutes of reading (or listening to reading). Once the child has filled in 5 circles, they can bring the log to the librarian for a free necklace and choice of brag tag. They will then receive more tags for each additional 5 circles. Once the log is completed (just over 12 hours total of reading), they will select a free book and receive a Bruins certificate AND a raffle ticket for a fun prize. Prizes include Funko Pops, stuffed animals, book sets, and Altitude tickets. *Your child can request a second log at that time, if wanted. *Logs must be redeemed by August 17.

  • Children ages 9 through entering fifth grade: These children will also receive a registration bag with a timed-reading log and Bruins materials. The child should fill in a circle for every 15 minutes of reading. Once the child has filled in 5 circles, they can bring the log to the librarian for a free necklace and choice of brag tag. They will then receive more tags for each additional 5 circles. Once the log is completed (just over 12 hours total of reading), they will receive a raffle ticket for a fun prize. Prizes include Showcase Cinemas tickets, a North Bowl pizza and bowling package, An Unlikely Story gift card and tote bag, Treetop Adventure pass, Altitude passes, telescope kit, Ninendo Switch game, book set, and games. *Your child can request a second log at that time, if wanted. *Logs must be redeemed by August 17.

  • Children entering 6th grade-9th grade: Children entering or continuing in middle school will receive a timed-reading log and mark every 15 minutes of reading. For every 2.5 hours of reading logged, the child/teen can come to the library and receive a free candy bar! Once the log is completed, they will also receive a raffle ticket for the items listed under "Children ages 9 through entering fifth grade" section above.  *Logs must be redeemed by August 17.

Our programs this summer will be themed around being creative. Join us throughout the summer for fun activities like STEAM days, birdhouse making, chess club, Legos, crafts, scavenger hunts, and more! Due to renovations throughout the building, we will have limited programming this summer. Please follow our Events tab for programs, dates, and information.
